Tourism Wells Gray is the freshly-formed organization responsible for promoting and developing tourism on behalf of the new Municipal District of Clearwater and the broader area of Wells Gray Country. Perfectly placed between Sun Peaks and Jasper on the Yellowhead Highway tourism route, Clearwater and Wells Gray Country has it all, except one big thing… the buzz and exposure of the larger tourism hubs. That’s why we need you!    


We are hiring a full-time Marketing and Promotions Coordinator / Tourism Manager who will work with our Board, its members, and the industry as a whole, to support our tourism product development and marketing initiatives.


You will be the driving force behind the development and execution of the association’s Tourism Plan.   You will provide market research and analysis, creative direction, and budget administration.


As the successful candidate, you will also be responsible for managing tourism-product development, marketing activities, and vendor relationships, and will act as a spokesperson for Tourism Wells Gray and its membership. Your position will also involve packaging of tourism products, the coordination of various publications, attending trade shows, and liasing with tourism organizations. You will be able to recognize, and capitalize on various funding initiatives. You will help in the development and application of Wells Gray’s Country’s brand.


Our ideal candidate would have the following profile

  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree in Tourism, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or similar

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the tourism industry

  • Minimum of two to three years of related experience

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate to diverse audiences

  • Proven success in the development, planning and execution of marketing plans

  • Skills in directing, delegating and organizing resources and establishing priorities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques

  • The ability to persuade and influence others

  • Comprehensive knowledge of print and web design and publishing tools, procedures and requirements

  • Excellent Knowledge of business and reporting software (MS Office)

  • The ability to supervise and train assigned staff / volunteers

  • The ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events

  • Knowledge of public events sponsorship arrangements and procedures

You also may be required to work before or after normal hours and on weekends, to attend functions and respond to press calls or other events. Occasional business travel will be required.
